LI Chuanyi 李釧毅, born in Chaozhou, China, and raised in Hong Kong, obtained her Bachelor's degree from the Department of Lacquer at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2019. She moved to Beijing in 2020. In 2021, Li Chuanyi established a studio with her partner, Guo Zhangle, in Beijing to promote lacquer art that adds depth to daily life. Guo is a veteran artisan who has been practicing lacquer craft since 2012.Their vision is to rejuvenate lacquer art by integrating sustainable materials into traditional craftsmanship. This approach not only respects the heritage of lacquer-making but also paves the way for a new wave of functional, environmentally friendly, and durable lacquerware.This lacquerware series reflects their commitment to exploring innovative materials and techniques. By delving into traditional craftsmanship, they stimulate fresh ideas that lead to unconventional designs. This process results in pieces that are not only beautiful but also sustainable, ensuring that the art of lacquerware remains relevant in today’s world.
