Osamu Sakamoto was born in Nara City, Japan in 1979.  He graduated from Ishikawa Wajima Lacquer Arts Training Institute in 2006, and subsequently worked as an apprentice for one of the most esteemed lacquer artists Kazumi Murose. Sakamoto has been independent since 2012 and launched his own brand "Urushi no Irodori” to create and promote lacquerware for everyday use.

Fun lacquerware will not only make mealtimes enjoyable but are actually safe and easy to use.  Sakamoto intentionally makes utensils in these beautiful colours.   Each pair of chopsticks is carved from Tagayasan wood (or wenge), an unusual dark-grained wood which is known as “iron sward wood” for its incredible durability.   Coating of natural lacquer form a shield that makes these chopsticks heat resistant and durable.  Needless to say, users enjoy using for its delightful appearance.
