This bowl has a generously rounded shape. It's a lidded bowl that evokes a feeling of good fortune, befitting the New Year. This bowl is made in  Yamanaka  Onsen area, the southernmost tip of Ishikawa Prefecture. The workshop Ishikawa Shippo-do has been producing lacquerware there for nearly 30 years.

The thin-turning technique creates a delicate and pleasant mouthfeel. In the past, lacquerware using vermilion was considered superior because the raw material for vermilion was precious.
