Fujii Seisakusho, is a studio, run by the husband-and-wife duo Kenichi and Minako Fujii. Each piece is handmade, making mass production impossible, but they strive to showcase the diverse possibilities of lacquer.

Spoons are tools that come into direct contact with the mouth—they are among the most intimate of utensils. They experimented with many shapes and materials, and eventually chose wild cherry wood for its smooth surface and hardness. Using woodworking techniques, they shaped the spoons to resemble those made through metal press-forming, achieving a refined form while retaining the warmth of wood.
