Natsuki KURIMOTO 栗本夏樹 graduated in 1985 from the Kyoto City University of Arts, Japan, and obtained his Master's Degree in 1987. KURIMOTO started his artistic life early in 1984 when he had his first solo exhibition of lacquer works in Kyoto at the prestigious Suzuki Gallery. He is at present a professor at Kyoto City University of Arts.
KURIMOTO enjoys experimenting with different materials, such as wooden and metallic structures, paper, and even cardboard. This unique collection of vessels is his experiment of lacquer and paper. Active in the art scene, KURIMOTO has also been creating big installations for hotels and public spaces. His works are usually bright, and the colours themselves contrast to sharp glossed black lacquer driven all across the material's surface.
