Chen Mingzong, the founder of Sunrise Lacquer Art, won numerous international and local awards for his lacquer art creations. He is well recognised in the Taiwanese lacquer art community of his persistence in preserving traditional lacquerware making techniques and using natural materials.
 
Here is a fine lacquered cup with materials from Myanmar and decorated in Taiwan. Such an exquisite and tiny handmade product requires sophisticated effort. Traditional lacquerware is coated with treated sap extracted from trees that dries to a very hard and smooth surface layer which is durable, waterproof and attractive to look at. You can use it to serve both tea and sake. This was a project of Sunrise Lacquer led by master Chen Ming Zong in Taiwan in collaboration with SOIL.
 
These lacquer cups are made in Myanmar with weaved bamboo and covered by fine layers of natural lacquer which demonstrates the natural beauty of the natural materials and at the same time are highly functional. The lacquer sheath can as well withstand acid, alkali, alcohol and high temperatures. To save our planet, it is best to use a light and biodegradable homeware like this bamboo lacquered cup.
